What People are saying:

Book of the Week.  Grade: A

--Entertainment Weekly

"Criss-crossing the extremes of the American landscape, these stories ARE America: majestic, salt-of-the-earth, painfully funny and achingly beautiful.  A haunting and stunning chronicle of our country and our people; Mindt is a magnificent writer.  This book killed me."                                                                                         --Binnie Kirshenbaum, Author of An Almost Perfect Moment

"A remarkable, memorable, artful collection."
--Michael C. Curtis, Fiction Editor - Atlantic Monthly

"Deft and beautifully composed.  Tense and surprising throughout."
--Publisher's Weekly

Hello. I guess this is where I should say a little something about me.  I studied acting at Carnegie Mellon University and writing at the University of Iowa and Columbia University.  I've written and directed plays and films, and my short stories have appeared in numerous magazines.  I have lived in every region of the country and worked over fifty jobs--teacher, salesman, carpenter, nanny, truck driver, social worker, strawberry picker, mason's assistant, and professional gambler, among others. I currently teach Creative Writing at Adelphi University and live in New York City with my wife and two kids.  After you read Male of the Species, please go to Amazon and give it a review.  Thanks for visiting!
